Why do we do this expedition?
In recent years, I have launched many projects, residencies, and site-specific performances on the sea, on boats, and in contact with grey whales in Baja California, Mexico. Motivated by the vivid and inexplicable sense of recognition and belonging that I – and many people – feel when we are at sea, I began bringing my artistic practice closer and closer to the sea and her creatures. What happens to creative processes when we take them away from the studio or the theater – away from a purely anthropocentric setting – and bring them into contact with the sea? What happens when we expose ourselves and our creative processes to the immensity of the sea

Communal Life and Spaces
LAFRI is meant to be a project where communal life fuses with artistic processes, where nature inspires art and activism. We will spend 10 days living, sailing, and creating together, while also having time to be with ourselves. We will have free time and decide each day’s schedule together: when to do our artistic exploration, when to relax, when to navigate, etc.!
